Snake Healer

I am dancing in the rain

Arms gently swaying, weaving threads

Hips undulate to ancient tunes

Returning me to Outremer

He watches from the shadows

Through amber eyes, pain-hollowed

Seeking venom or remedy

For old wounds he cannot heal

Tears and rain roll down his face

Wash away the years, a soul enchained

His heart clings to the darkness

Lit only by dying embers

I embrace and coil around him

Drenched in moonlight, he cannot see

Whispers pass between two fangs

He surrenders to what must come

Deep in his eyes, I am inside him

Consume salt from wound, a poisoned mind

The fire breathes through me

And I release his pain
